How to set up your garden for the perfect summer party

As the summer months loom excitingly ahead of us, now is the time to start planning that perfect summer garden party. Not only will it give you the chance to socialise with people you may not have seen for quite some time due to lockdown, but it’s also a chance to put on a real show and give your garden a starring role. Here at Stove Supermarket, our outdoor living range can help you put on a summer party to remember so have a read of this blog and see if anything inspires you.

Seating

No matter how happy people are to stand and chat, at some point, everyone likes to have a sit down and take the weight off their feet. Depending on whether you’re planning a formal summer party or more of an informal gathering, you’ll need the relevant seating to match. Don’t be afraid to mix it up, with some blankets on the garden for people to chill, alongside a table and chair set or something more eye catching like a colourful bistro set. If you really want to put the cat amongst the pigeons, go for an outdoor pool/dining table, where you can eat in style and finish off with a game of pool or table tennis!

Heating

While we can have some real scorchers in the UK, it’s fair to say our weather isn’t the most reliable and it’s always sensible to be well-prepared. Make sure to tell your guests to bring some extra layers for later in the evening, and consider adding a firepit or outdoor fireplace to your garden setting – providing your friends with the option of cosying up by it as the day’s sun starts to cool.

Catering

A garden party isn’t a garden party without some mouth-watering food to enjoy and there are plenty of different styles of menu you can put together. With either a gas-fired or coal BBQ you can create a tantalising combination of grilled meats, fish and cheese, served with a selection of summer salads or you could plump for an Ooni Pizza Oven because at the end of the day, who doesn’t like pizza? If you’d prefer to steer away from carbs, a Cocotte provides something completely different, giving you the opportunity to create delicious slow-cooked recipes such as a casserole, a chilli or a pork shoulder.

Last Orders

Once you’ve got your menu sorted, next up is drinks. Inevitably, your guests will have a range of palates, so it makes sense to have a selection of drinks available, including some colourful cocktails, a summery glass of Pimms and an ice-cold beer. And if beer is on the menu, serving it from your very own beer dispenser is bound to impress!

Atmospheric Lighting

Lighting can make all the difference at a party, especially as the natural light starts to fade. Think candles in lanterns, fairy lights strewn around trees and across courtyards and some outdoor lamps with a soft dancing flame such as a Morso Bel to help you party long into the night.
