Why it’s a good idea to get your stove installed during the Spring and Summer

Stoves are mainly used during the colder, winter months when your central heating might not be enough, or for that extra warmth so you can cosy up in your living room for those chilly nights. But just because you’ll be using your stove mainly in the winter, that doesn’t mean your only option is to install it then.

When it’s warm and sunny, purchasing a stove might be the last thing on your mind. But some experts in the stove industry would recommend buying and installing your stove in the Spring and Summer months instead of the Winter, as this has various benefits and can save you time and money.

Throughout this blog we’ll take you through some reasons as to why it might be a good idea to get your stove installed during the Spring and Summer.

Give yourself time to plan

If you’re wanting a stove for your home this Winter, you need to give yourself time to plan. There are many different types of stoves, from wood-burning to gas and electric. Each has different benefits and suits different people’s needs so it is important that you do your research to see which one is right for you. Why not read our other blog here to see which might be best for you. You also have to consider where you’d like your stove to go. The size, colour, layout and style of the room are all contributing factors to the stove you should purchase, and you should ensure you have properly planned it before you invest in a stove.

If you have a small living room, we’d suggest a stove with a heat output of 5kw or less, which can be found here. If the room that you’d wish to install the stove in is on the larger size, we also stock a range of high-quality stoves with a heat output of 8kw +.

Preparation

Purchasing a stove isn’t the only factor you need to consider. If you’re looking at a wood burning stove, you’ll need to find a source for which you can get your wood from. This has to be dry wood as otherwise it won’t burn properly. By sorting this in the Summer, it will give you chance to build your own log store before the winter, which could be a great project for the warmer months. You can find out more about the types of wood you should use in our blog here.

For other types of stoves such as gas and electric, you will also need to prepare your fuel sources. This is easy for an electric stove as all that is needed is a plug socket nearby. But for a gas stove, if it’s not fitted to a main source, the gas will have to be obtained and you will have to ensure you have a sufficient amount to last you the winter.

By properly preparing for when you purchase a stove, you will make the installation and setup a lot simpler and easier, saving you stress and money in the long run. It wouldn’t be great if you purchased a wood burning stove to find out that you can’t source the correct type of wood to burn. So, make sure you prepare first!

Installation

As you can imagine, at Stove Supermarket we’re at our busiest during the Autumn and Winter months, this means installation could take longer during this period. The off-peak seasons of Spring and Summer are more focused on our Outdoor Living range, which can be found in our outdoor section. And we all know how unpredictable the British weather is so we’re sure there’ll be the occasional chilly night where you can use your stove during Summer.

Some installations are trickier than others and might mean the whole room in which the stove is being installed in has to be vacated. The summer is a much better time for this as you can sit outside and relax instead of having to worry about the cold weather and rain.

During the autumn and winter, you’re more likely to experience delays with delivery. Even if the stove you’ve purchased is in stock, there can be other factors which could slow down delivery and lead to you getting the stove later than you’d like. Delivery is also significantly quicker during the summer with us being less busy with stoves, we will have more time to process and ship your orders.

The British Weather

As we’ve just mentioned, you can never rely on the British weather to deliver during the summer. We’d love to spend the whole season sat out in our gardens until dusk enjoying the scorching weather, but it doesn’t always turn out like that.

You might need your stove sooner than you think and this is why it’s a good idea to install yours before you might need it. Good weather also makes installing a stove a lot simpler and straightforward. With ice and high winds present, accessing the top of your chimney can be extremely dangerous for your stove fitter so make sure you fit your stove in good time. By installing your stove in the summer, you can greatly reduce delays that could be caused.

Summer Sales

We understand that purchasing a stove is an investment and can take a lot of time and consideration. But perhaps a discount or sale could sway you to purchase one sooner than you anticipated. During the summer months, at Stove Supermarket we have a range of sales and offers which could tempt you into upgrading your living area with a stove.
