Multi fuel stoves & Wood Burning Stoves are fast becoming a popular choice for household heating. You may be looking to heat just a single room, your entire house, or just fancy a log burner to look pretty in your home - we have compiled a list of our favourite woodburning stoves of 2017 to help guide you in choosing the best new wood burner.

Wood burning stoves are both a cleaner and more efficient option compared to open fireplaces - in the long run, they will save you money on heating bills. Before choosing a Woodburner, make sure you check if you are in a smoke-controlled area. If you are, you will need to purchase a log burner that has been approved by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. These stoves are known classed as DEFRA Approved Stoves and are suitable for burning in smoke controlled areas.

Before we begin - it is important that you know what heat output you want from your wood burning stove.

To work this out simply measure the Length, Width and Height of the space you want to heat (the room) in meters and multiply them all together - Then divide that number by 14. This will give you a rough Kilowatt (KW) heat output required to heat your space efficiently.

Important: ( Length x Width x Height ) / 14 = Required Kilowatt Heat Output (KW)

Now you know the basics of what to look for in a wood burning stove - let's take a look at our top 10 Multifuel & Wood Burning Stoves of 2017.

    They state metres not millemetres

    Hmmm. Seems that the first commenter can’t read. Multiply the room dimensions (in metre) 5 × 5 × 3 = 75. Div by 14 = 5.5kW (ish).

According to your formula I need nearly a 1 MW (yes 928 kW) stove.
    Room dimensions in mm 5000+5000+3000 = 13000
    Divide by 14 = 928 kW

    Seems a bit large
